DO THE BRIDE AND GROOM HAVE TO GIVE A SPEECH AT THEIR WEDDING RECEPTION?
Making a speech at a wedding reception in front of a crowd is a challenging task for some people to handle. They find it hard to address their audience even when it comprises of their relatives and friends.

If you are a bride or groom, you do not need to panic about expressing your feelings at the reception. Relax, only a few people are expected to address everyone. Traditionally it’s the host (usually the person who financed the wedding or the bride’s father) and the best man who has the chance to say a few words.
However, when you think of those who sacrificed everything to make your day successful, it’s just so fair to offer a word of thanks. So yes, the bride and groom need to make a speech at their wedding reception! This is a great idea. What better moment could there be for you to thank your loved ones personally? None!
Here’s what you need to know about making a speech on your big day.

Do It Together or Alone
You can address your guest alongside your partner or all alone. Make sure you acknowledge everyone present. Thank them for being part of this special day and making your special day a success.

Wait for Your Turn
Quietly and patiently wait for your turn. The floor is yours once the host, groom man, maid of honor, and any other person must have spoken.

Talk When It’s Right
Speak at the right time. It is always good to call for attention when everyone is almost done eating. Then, you can make your speech.

Know Your Words
Do not memorize a speech. Let your emotions do the job. Nonetheless, you should be constructive. If you want to talk about the first time you both met, focus on those parts that will put a smile on the faces of your guests. And most importantly, that of your partner. You should know which story would work best and make everyone chuckle. Speak loudly! People want to hear what you have to say.
Are you worried about making a speech on your wedding day, scared of a crowd? Are you afraid you’ll burst into tears? Of course! This is an emotional day. You need to be courageous and go for it! It is your wedding day; you need to make a calm and stress-free speech.
Pull yourself together, take a deep breath, look around the hall with your head high, then look at everyone straight into their eyes, and smile. Be confident! Remember, there’s no rush – take your time. Your speech needs to be short and fascinating. You wouldn’t want to keep your guests away from the dance floor for more than 30 minutes.
On the other hand, it is okay if you do not want to say a word. You can simply designate whom you want to speak at your reception and have the person do the job.
